[…]his dog started growling at the back porch, and when he popped his head down to see what was there, he was greeted by the bear.
His family contacted the Department of Energy and Environmental Protection, who said they should just let the bear do its thing.
“They said to just leave him alone, let him be, as long as he’s not creating a disturbance or, you know, bothering anybody,” Dashukewich said.
“It’s a common occurrence in Connecticut. We get about 15-20 calls a year about bears denning under decks and porches,” Jason Hawley, wildlife biologist, said.
The man said his family has named the bear Marty.
