I’ve made a map to help us visualize what’s happening here. The areas in green are the territories under Russia’s control.
The article by Sputnik writes about the “Kherson region” and the “Zaporozhye region,” but I’m not sure if they’re referring only to the two cities of Kherson and Zaporozhye, or if they’re referring to the entire Kherson and Zaporozhye oblasts intact. I think it’s the entire oblasts of Kherson and Zaporozhye.
Kherson Oblast is bordered in red and Zaporozhye Oblast is bordered in orange.
I’ve also included a marker denoting the location of the Zaporozhye nuclear power plant. Many people argue over the contradiction of Zelensky’s deliberate and daily bombardment of the power plant with high precision missiles, risking an all but imminent nuclear meltdown in his own territory.
