You have to love the passive aggressive style of writing.

The New York Times invented the concept of a “Paper of Record” then declared themselves the “Paper of Record” for the US and chose which other newspapers got to be the “Papers of Record” for their country. Neat trick if you can get enough people to go along with it.

Last month the Wall Street Journal was mocking the New York Times for basing their future revenue growth on web games like Woordle and native ads for products not as prestigious as Martha Stewart brand bed sheets. You get the distinct impression that the New York Times is one step away from Alex Jones Penis Pills sponsorship.
